Community Safety

Thanks to a range of proactive community safety initiatives, Hattersley is one of the safest areas in Tameside and Greater Manchester.

Close working between local residents, Police and other key agencies helps maintain this proud record, with a range of initiatives in place to enable issues to be identified and tackled.

The broad approach to community safety is illustrated by recent initiatives including work to; reduce anti-social behaviour and domestic abuse; provide and promote smoke alarms; promote road safety as well as the delivery of various training and information events.

In addition Hattersley Community Safety Resource Centre (CSRC), which is staffed by Police and volunteer workers, provides residents with ongoing access to a wide range of advice and information on community safety and a place to report and discuss local issues.

The CSRC also provides a base to coordinate other successful initiatives including the PACT (Police and Community Together) which meets regularly to discuss, plan and review action on specific issues identified and the well-established Homewatch scheme.

The Community Safety Theme Group is responsible for coordinating action on community safety on behalf of a wide range of partners working with Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership. Click here for more information.
