Sport & Leisure

Hattersley enjoys a wide range of leisure activities including – dance, art, crafts and walking groups as well as a wide range of sport activities.
 

Young People

There are many activities for younger people with the 5-13s Club and organisations such as Youth Services, Greater Manchester Police and faith groups providing a range of activities at Hattersley Cyber Café and other venues.

Older People

Many older people take advantage of local leisure courses and activities and groups such as the over 50s club, Mancunian Reunion Social Group and the Ivy Club, which meets every Tuesday for music dance and bingo.

Sports

Hattersley has a strong sporting tradition and an impressive range of opportunities for all levels and ages. Many of the sporting activities are arranged and managed by resident volunteers working closely with Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership’s Sport in the Community initiative.

Great strides have been made in providing activities and facilities in recent years with the arrival of the £1million Ken Ward Sports Centre (KWSC) attracting 500+ visitors per week.

The Phase 2 development is to due to open in 2010 and will bring a state of the art multi-sports and leisure facility.

The Sport in the Community Team also provide support to schools and volunteers and offer a range of sports coaching and management qualifications to residents.

The Health and Leisure Theme Group is responsible for coordinating action on sport and leisure activities on behalf of a wide range of partners working with Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership. Click here for more information.
